I mentioned not too long ago that I was now hooked on this series. Let's just say that Book 5 has done nothing to cure my new addiction. Can this series keep getting better with every book? I certainly hope so. This time, Amy and Dan are off to Russia. And aside from saying that they face the most fierce danger they've seen yet and uncover what is likely the most pivotal secret in the series, I can say very little without spoilerizing (Is that a word? I guess it is now :D) you for the first 4 books in the series. Bring on Book 6! In Too Deep... coming out November 3rd.

What age group is this series? Too old for James (7)? I want him to have books that are more challenging (longer, more complex) than his magic treehouse and secret of droon books to read when we practice reading togther rather than just for fun. But it seems like books are either on a 1st grade level or they are for 10 year olds with more complex adultish themes: parents dying, dying in general, general sadness, meaness between kids etc. Action is okay, especially fantasy action, it is just the sadness that is real life that I still want to protect him from.
I am basically looking for something that he can't finish in 30 minutes but is still pretty childlike and has fantasy and adventure. T
